It seems that you should not place your large screen TV in from of a gas fireplace that you assume is off with a kid who is into light switches. On May 12, 2009 around noon I started smelling something burning, we couldn't figure out what is was, we look everywhere and ended up having to call the fire department because the living room was filling up with smoke. Oh boy did Logan love this... Firemen all over the place!! Well one of the Fireman came out and asked me to follow him to the back yard, he tells me he hasn't found any flames but this metal box attached to the wall on the outside of our house was very hot and smoking, I told him oh that is the flute to our fire place.... he then asked what fire place... well I explained... umm its behind the Big Screen TV in the living room..we both go inside and pull the TV away from the wall and the fire place and out comes the FLAMES!! Once we pulled the TV away the fire went out and that is when another fireman says that our fireplace can be turned on by this light switch and I am guessing my son turned it on at some point that morning and had been slowly melting our wonderful TV. The Firemen told us how luck we were since it would have been only a few more minutes and the TV would have burst into flames and Amazingly after our TV cooled down for about a day, it started working again just fine! But I bet the wonderful Firemen that came to our rescue are just laughing their asses off!
